The name Manjit means “conquer the mind” in Hindi. So, it makes sense that Manjit Devgun has made it her calling to teach thousands of people through her popular app, Manjit, to use breathwork, meditation and self-hypnosis to rewire their minds and achieve their goals. “I help people relax their brains and go into the theta state. When we slow down and allow that to happen, we find solutions.” Sunday is Manjit’s day to relax, not just her brain, but her body too. It also happens to be her favorite day of the week.

YouTube Roulette

I usually go to bed around 10pm and wake up at 6am. On Sunday I still get up early, but I give myself grace and don’t set my alarm. I sleep with my phone in a different room, so I go get it and get back in bed. Then I let the YouTube algorithm feed me new things—maybe it’s a podcast or a new spiritual book. I do breathwork while I’m listening, breathing in really deep, holding my breath then exhaling. Or I do other longevity exercises like working my pelvic floor, eye rolls or Qigong movements. Then I’ll get up and meditate for a half hour. I don’t have a partner, so I have the luxury of setting my own schedule.

Coffee Time

Next, it’s my quiet coffee time. Coffee is a ritual for me. I love rituals; I’m all about being as present as possible. In New York, it’s really easy to flit from one thing to another. Trust me, I’m a practitioner but I’m on my phone too, scrolling between my sessions. So long as I can embody some rituals, when my brain waves have to slow down, I’m good. I encourage my clients to have a slower Sunday morning, too.

Manifestations and Intentions

When I’m sipping my coffee, I visualize what I want my day to look like. My clients use the manifesting part of the app to get into that state of visualization. Just listening to it, you mentally rehearse, and the brain doesn’t know the difference between what’s real and imagined. You can use visualization to bring in the version of you feeling how you want to feel, instead of just getting on the hamster wheel.
I also set the intention that I’m going to bring in a beautiful, relaxed day.

Connecting with Friends

I love to have brunch with friends on Sunday; I want to make sure I’m social. I’m a creature of habit. I go to my favorite neighborhood spot and order the egg scramble with a popover. Brunch is my favorite meal. Having good food with good friends forges deeper bonds and that makes me happy.

On Sundays, I also have this policy that I will not answer texts or phone calls from Debbie Downers. I’ve learned to slowly cut or space those people out of my life. On a Sunday, I have a lot more alone time and I’m being more discerning about people who drain my energy.

Walking the Walk

Next up, it’s a walk for maybe an hour, with a podcast. I’m obsessed with anything to do with the brain like neuroplasticity. I love listening to and witnessing people going through their journeys and sharing their stories. Then I’ll go home and have an early dinner or snack if I had a late brunch.

Bathing Beauty

Sunday night is bath night. I use magnesium salts, essentials oils and a facial mask. That’s when I will listen to my own app, too. I’ll do a lot of manifesting or maybe some journaling. I have a separate gratitude journal where I jot down whatever happened that day that I’m grateful for. It could be: I’m grateful for this bed, this computer, for meeting my friends for lunch, whatever big or little thing comes up.

Ice Cream and Comedy

I try to be as disciplined as possible during the week, but Sunday is dessert night. For me, it’s chocolate and peanut butter ice cream, plus comedy shows. I’ll watch stand up specials over and over. It’s like a way to condition my brain with happiness.

Sleep On It

I’m guilty of scrolling sometimes before I go to sleep, but I’ll give myself grace because Sunday is Funday. But sleep is an important part of my routine. I sleep on a PEMF mat with red light therapy under me that claims to improve deep relaxation and sleep. It lasts for an hour on the timer, but I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and put it back on again.

By the end of the day, I feel like I’ve nurtured my mind, body and spirit.
